From Pipestone, we headed west. We had stopped in Wall, SD last year during the summer heat. With temperatures in the 90s again and Memorial Day weekend filling the public campgrounds, we decided to stay at the same rv park in Wall that we used last year on our way west.
Besides Wall Drug (of course), the National Grasslands Visitor Center is also located in Wall. It is the only grassland visitor center for all of the grasslands in the U.S. Here you can learn all about grasslands, their importance, history, what lives in them, etc. It is very interesting and informative and gives you a much better appreciation of the grasslands.
In between the National Grasslands Visitor Center and our rv park for the night is Wall Drug. We did our visit to the Grasslands Visitor Center in the morning and as we headed back to our campground the smell of doughnuts was irresistible! So we stopped in and had a quick donut with my 5 cent coffee and Opa’s ice water and walked out with a smile on our faces. Enough said.
Then we packed up the motorhome and continued west.
